LOOK! Is that John Wayne coming over the hill?

Here is another picture from our first morning at Arches.
You can see how open the country is and how tall the rock are.

This is Delicate Arch and as close as we got. It was about 3:30 and the trails is on the other side of the arch and about 2 miles - one way. Oh well and excuse to go back some day.
Here you can see people to get some idea of how big the arch is. On the other side is a big bowl that is where the trail goes.
Her is the Skyline Arch. You can see that a small rock fell out of the arch back in the 40's
The Park Service has made nice trails out to the arches. It is pretty easy walking, except for the 90 degree heat.
If you can read the sign you can see that back in 1991 a big chunk of the right side of the arch fell down. The trail that continues on to the right of this arch goes to the Wall Arch that completely collapsed a year or so ago.
Here is the Landscape Arch. It too is getting thin and will fall also some day.
This is from our first morning. This is the 3 Gossips.

And here is my Honda commercial again. You can see that the roads in the park are easy to drive.

This is Landscape Arch.

Skyline Arch

the first one is Sand Dune arch. the 1/2 mile hike is more like 1 1/2 because you have to walk in sand the whole way up.
The rocks are called Firey Furnace.

The lone arch is called Delicate Arch. We ran out of time to make the hike all the way out.
The other is a passing storm, it went around us, so no rain and no lighting.

This is Windows arches. We made here about 3:30 i n the afternoon and after another 1 mile hike we decided to call it a day.
